ISCORMA-1

The First International Symposium on Stability Control of Rotating Machinery (ISCORMA-1), held 20-24 August 2001, was deemed a huge success by the over 130 attendees at the week-long event. ISCORMA-1 attracted industry and academic experts in rotor dynamics to California's scenic Lake Tahoe to exchange knowledge regarding machinery stability. The symposium, which boasted attendees from five continents and nearly thirty countries, featured the presentation of over sixty technical papers and three keynote speeches. The conference was capped by a historic event: the first public demonstration of a practical cure for both whirl and whip fluid-induced instabilities using externally pressurized bearing technology.
