Professor Sawicki earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 1992 and, after a short time in industry, joined the Cleveland State University faculty in 1993. He has been a Director of the Rotor-Bearing Dynamics & Diagnostics Laboratory since 1997. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1997 and became Full Professor in 2001. Dr. Sawicki is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio. In 2002 he was elected a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). His area of expertise is dynamics, control, and tribology of rotating machinery.
